The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is committed to making art and design education accessible
to the community. The Community Arts Partnerships (CAP) program cultivates collaborations between
CCS and metro Detroit community organizations to bring CCS’s educational resources to underserved
populations. CAP programs are individually crafted, providing unique and effective art and design
education and enrichment programs for young people from diverse backgrounds. Each program is
solidly based in a strong visual arts curriculum that emphasizes hands-on art making, team teaching
and learning through the introduction of new art and design technologies, while inspiring Detroit youth
to embrace art in everyday life. CAP regularly employs CCS students as instructors in these
community programs, providing young artists the opportunity to engage directly with Detroit
communities.
